Been staying up until the early hours of the morning,
When the birds begin to sing
They trick me into thinking that the winter months are over
And we'll soon be into spring
Been staying undercover, if I stay here any longer
I'll miss most of the day
The last thing you're expecting when you're looking for a window
Is to see it look so gray
What's the point of worrying how will things turn out?
Why spoil the surprise?
You know it won't live up to your expectations
When you wonder why
And I wonder if the snow will settle on the ground this year
I wonder whether losing you was such a good idea
I can't seem to remember the last time that it snowed 'round here
And I wonder if the snow will settle on the ground this year

Lovedust

When candles light themselves
And the air turns creamy Why not take a photograph?
You look so dreamy
Then stand in the blackness
Smile at the tinkling
Blinded by lovedust
What did I see?
A million, a billion, a trillion stars
A million, a billion star
I’m bad with faces
And worse with names
But the last glove is happy
Its all the same
I set a trap for you
But I’m the one who’s all caught up
Blinded by lovedust
This is what I saw
A million, a billion, a trillion stars
A million a billion stars
A million, a billion, a trillion stars
A million, a billion stars

The Last Good Day of the Year

Don't tell me
That you get sick of living
When the summer's so forgiving although we have stolen
All of the things that we though we had owned then
Have disappeared
All these things in flavour
Won't do you no favours
When the summer's light is fragrant with scents of returning
You relent, you resent, now you're burning
For nothing to change....
There's something there...
(amongst the fallen fruit and flowers)
Won't rest
(only minutes, only hours)
Unless
(now the morning breaks in showers)
I guess
We'll remember this all of our lives
On the last good day of the year
All the leaves are turning
Autumn's fingers burnished
Furnished here in hope and in faith in the meantime
Kinda working my way through a dream
I was having alone
There's something there...
(amongst the fallen fruit and flowers)
Won't rest
(only minutes, only hours)
Unless
(now the morning breaks in showers)
I'm left
With the north wind breathing down my neck...
On the last good day of the year.....
(don't know where I end and where you begin...)
That you get sick of living
When the summer's so forgiving although we have stolen
All of the things that we though we had owned then

Simple Song

Well this is just a simple song
to say ‘what you done?’
I told you about all those fears
and away they did run
you sure must be strong
and you feel like an ocean
being warmed by the sun.
When I was just nine years old
I swear that I dreamt
your face on a football field
and a kiss that I kept
under my vest
apart from everything, the heart in my chest
chorus:
I know that things can really get rough when you go it alone
don’t go thinking you gotta be tough, complete like a stone
could be there’s nothing else in our lives so critical
as this little hope!
as this little hole.
My life in an action boat, marooned on a cliff
you brought me a great big flood
and you gave me a lift
oh what a gift!
you tell me with your tongue
and your breath goes in the lungs
and the flow that filled the rift
chorus:
I know that things can really get rough when you go in love
don’t go thinking you gotta be tough, complete like a stone
could be there’s nothing else in our lives so critical
as this little hope!
Well this will be a simple song to say what you’ve done
I told you about all those years and away they did run
and where they did wrong
you sure must be strong
and you feel like an ocean
being warmed by the sun.
Remember walking a mile to your house that glow in the dark
I made a fumbling play for your heart and the extra of the spark
you wore a charm in a chain that I stole specially for you
love’s such a delicate thing that we do , we’ve nothing to prove,
which I never knew.
The Fairest Of The Seasons

Now that it's time
Now that the hour hand has landed at the end
Now that it's real
Now that the dreams have given all they had to lend
I want to know do I stay or do I go
And maybe try another time
And do I really have a hand in my forgetting ?
Now that I've tried
Now that I've finally found that this is not the way,
Now that I turn
Now that I feel it's time to spend the night away
I want to know do I stay or do I go
And maybe finally split the rhyme
And do I really understand the undernetting ?
Yes and the morning has me
Looking in your eyes
And seeing mine warning me
To read the signs carefully.
Now that it's light
Now that the candle's falling smaller in my mind
Now that it's here
Now that I'm almost not so very far behind
I want to know do I stay or do I go
And maybe follow another sign
And do I really have a song that I can ride on ?
Now that I can
Now that it's easy, ever easy all around.
Now that I'm here
Now that I'm falling to the sunlights and a song
I want to know do I stay or do I go
And do I have to do just one
And can I choose again if I should lose the reason ?
Yes, and the morning
Has me looking in your eyes
And seeing mine warning me
To read the signs more carefully.
Now that I smile,
Now that I'm laughing even deeper inside.
Now that I see,
Now that I finally found the one thing I denied
It's now I know do I stay or do I go
And it is finally I decide
That I'll be leaving
In the fairest of the seasons.
